WHEE!

I just got back from watching the new Star Trek movie.

It was just... just... GLEE! >w<

It was amazing! I didn't think they would be able to match up to the original characters, but fortunately they proved me wrong. Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine were epicness. And the new Chekov, while being very different to his much older counterpart, was just so fuzzy and cuddly that you loved him regardless. D'aw, he saved them from falling. He was so excited too . And the new Scotty was funny as ever, and Bones was as paranoid, it was great!

And let's not forget the ship. The Enterprise is sexy. I can see what Scotty sees in her. Whoo~

Flash is such a happy Trekkie. I was never much for Voyager or Deep Space Nine (The Next Generation was okay, mainly due to Patrick Stewart's amazing acting) but the Original Series holds its place upon a mighty golden pedastal deep within my heart. I squealed when Nimoy turned up. He's getting on in years but Gawd he's as amazing as ever. It's a shame Shatner wasn't there. I'll miss that crazy man.

And of course, one of my favourite things about Star Trek: The Original Series is Kirk/Spock. It was the first ever slash couple thought up and written for by fans, way back in the 70's. I praise the woman that birthed that brainchild. Kirk and Spock are, as far as I'm concerned, the Adam and, well, Adam of the slash fandom, and I will always love them for that. It certainly helps that Kirk/Spock has got to be, in my personal opinion, one of the sexiest slash couples ever conceived. The stoic vulcan and the womanizing captain. Doesn't get much better than that !

I swear, every time Kirk and Spock interacted I just squealed in delight. It was just so...so...gah! Oh gawds I needs me some of that. Grrgh! I think I may need to- ya know what? I'm not finishing that sentence. Those of you whose minds are more sexually inclined can probably guess what I was going to say. In fact, now that i've said that, you can probably all guess. Oh well, so long as I don't actually say it I am safe from the 'tsk tsk, naughty naughty Flashie' finger waggles that would inevitably be sent my way.

Anyway, now I feel ill. Ugh, that's what I get for wolfing down my macdonalds before the movie, rushing up the epically long spiral staircase at 'The Atruim' to get to the cinema while eating my mcflurry and chatting to J, and then not sitting still during the entire movie. Seriously, ask J. When I wasn't kicking the cup holders of the seat in front of me I was chatting to her or bouncing in my chair or wiggling and squealing in delight. And I kept fideting because my left armrest was broken. I don't think it was broken before I turned up... . Bliddy fook and this is what I'm like when Kirk and Spock aren't even getting along . Can you not tell how much I love this couple?

Though admittedly all the Uhura/Spock moments annoyed me. Seriousleh, every time they were alone (or not so alone) it was all smoochy smoochy. Gawd, they're worse than the William Shatner version of Kirk was with all his many lovers ¬¬. So yeah, that was a bit of a dampener there.

Anyways, I need sleep now. I'm going to a party tomorrow () and then my exams start next week. They're so important and I need to pass them with good grades, so please wish me luck. I have all three Critical Thinking ones (which don't matter anyway) and 2 of my Maths ones next week, then a week off for half term, and then my remaining 5 exams the following week. I'm so anxious ><;. I need to do well in them to be accepted by the uni I want to go to and to continue onto the A2 course (which we start before we get our results after returning from study leave, which I'm on until the 15th of June, despite the fact that my last exam is on the 5th).

Anyways, Love you guys. If you get a chance to watch the movie I certainly recommend it. It's fantastic!

And then a bunch of other stuff we want to happen that defy the laws of physics e.g. gateways to other worlds, a method by which we are capable of bringing fictional characters to life etc.)

As much as I can possibly get at any particular instance. I delay getting out of bed as long as possible. How long I sleep depends both on what time I managed to fall asleep and what time I could put off arising from slumber no longer.

Well, just the one, actually.

Mum asked me the other week if I'd like to draw a dragon on the wall of the library at my old primary school. I have thursday and friday off school this week (academic review days, I've already had my appointment so I don't have to go in the rest of the week now), and so I figured, well sure, I love dragons, and I'll get about 10 of my community service hours done.

Turns out, the dragon has to be HUGE. Like, cover the entire back wall of the library huge. And I somehow have to avoid getting paint on the bookshelves.

I plotted it out yesterday. I used an overhead projecter and drew a couple designs for the outline on some pieces of laminate, and projected it on the wall. Mum kept nitpicking at my design ('No, it has to look more like Norbert from Harry Potter!' 'I haven't seen the film in bloody ages! I'm drawing the dragon how I want it dammit!'. In the end I chose the second one, the one she hadn't verbally butchered ¬¬. It looks nothing like Norbert, except that it's going to be green. But I'm naming him Norbert anyway. Tough love.

So I spent most of yesterday just plotting it out and deciding a colour scheme. I've never actually had to plot a dragon out before, but I like drawing small, and it was thus a necessary precaution so the dragons proportions didn't end up ridiculous. Then in the afternoon mum and I shopped for paints. And, despite how much paint was at the store, they had none of my colours! Why is every colour of wall emulsion watered down with a hefty quantity of grey? Ugh.

So, after purchasing the dusty colours, we returned and I started painting. The problem with me painting a dragon is that, while I can pencil draw them with amazing detail and patience, I hate paints. Paints hate me. Mutual hate.

So I started to work on his right arm, which was raised and had claws extended. I had to add some detail to it before I could paint it, and then Norbert decided to be uncooperative and made his hand too small. Then the thumb was the right size and the fingers too small. Then the claws were too small. After a half hour of faffing over outlining one hand, I decided that fine, if Norbert wasn't going to cooperate, then I was going to punish him, and so I turned his hand into a fist and painted it, and it looks retarded. He brought it on himself.

...

He knows what he did.

And matt emulsions are horrible to paint with! It's got to be the most annoying media ever! Not only am I bad at painting, have no patience with it and had to keep making areas larger because I went over the lines (give me a break, I had to stand on a table to even be able to reach him comfortably!), but you have to do several layers in emulsion before you can no longer see the wall beneath. So even when I was happy with the colours in an area, I had to keep going over it (and thus mucking it up) because I had to do several coats.

Grr.

And I'm supposed to be finishing the painting today, which I won't. It won't be enough time at any rate, and I'm going to have to keep taking breaks to rest my legs and shoulder (as I have to do this standing up with my arm raised). So I'm going to have to finish it on the weekend. Great.

Ah well, I'll let you all know how it goes and upload a pic of the finished (crappy) product when it's done.

Why couldn't it have just been a giant piece of paper I just had to draw on?!
